Chemical Park Knapsack
Chemical Park Knapsack

Europe’s leading industrial region

The Chemical Industrial Park Knapsack is located in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the most important chemical and power location in Germany. Just under 30% of all foreign investments are concentrated in this region due to it having the largest buying and selling market. The Chemical Industrial Park Knapsack is located just 10 kilometers south west of Cologne and has excellent access to the Rhineland highway network enabling the fast transfer of goods to customers in all of Europe.

Well connected

Direct highway access (Knapsack), without having to deal with a cross town link, is just four kilometers away. The Airport Cologne/ Bonn is only about 30 kilometers away. The chemical park’s own public container terminal acts as a satellite terminal for the regional mega-terminal Cologne-Eifeltor (Köln-Eifeltor) as well as for a second major terminal located 20 km away in the Harbor Köln-Niehl. This harbor has connections to all of North See’s overseas ports.

Well-established services

The Chemical Industrial Park Knapsack’s concept enables every partner to concentrate on their core business, be it production, logistics or services. Accordingly, costs, for example, power, raw materials and logistics can be reduced considerably. The companies profit from the infrastructure at their disposal and the opportunity to take advantage of the custom services offered by the site operator InfraServ Knapsack. Investors can expect to find optimal economic conditions and individual solutions for their business models.

Full of Energy

After two years of construction, Statkraft’s 800 MW Gas and steam power station went into operation in 2008. A further power station project from E.ON Energy from Waste Saarbrücken GmbH and InfraServ Knapsack started production in January 2009.
