Excellent Infrastructure

Rapid transport from the center of Europe
to your customers
Located in the center of Europe, Germany has the largest number of direct borders with other countries, almost all of whom are members of the European Union (EU). Almost 500 million people live in the EU alone. That means large and open sales markets without trading restrictions right at your front door. Europe is therefore also the home market for the chemical companies located in Germany. Approximately three quarters of all German chemical exports are destined for European countries.

In the North, Germany borders on Denmark, from where the other Scandinavian countries are easily reached. To the East, Poland and the Czech Republic border on Germany, forming a springboard to the markets in South-Eastern Europe. Germany’s neighbors to the South are Switzerland and Austria.  From there, it is only a stone’s throw over the Alps to Italy. To the West, Germany borders on France, Luxembourg, Belgium and The Netherlands.

Almost all other European countries are located within a radius of 1,000 kilometers. From the hub of Germany, your products can reach your customers in virtually every locality in Europe within the shortest possible time: by air in three hours, by truck in 24 hours and by rail in 30 hours. The German Baltic ports provide access to Scandinavia, as well as to the Baltic states of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. And the German and European seaports on the North Sea link the manufacturing location of Germany with the markets in Great Britain and overseas.

Optimum transport links
The German chemical parks’ and sites’ optimum connection to the densest network of transport routes in Europe ensures fast access to markets: Germany’s exceptionally well constructed network of roads, railways and waterways covers more than 60,000 kilometers. Within their bounds, the chemical parks themselves have their own road and rail networks, as well as inland harbors. This excellent infrastructure ensures direct access to long distance transport routes. From the international airports near the locations, goods can be transported around the world. No other European location offers such good transport links as the German chemical parks.

As well as the chemical parks’ excellent access to the European market, there are also other factors which make the German chemical sites unique. Proximity to customers, for instance, is also an important advantage, since approximately 50 percent of production is supplied to chemical companies in the region.

Reliable partner for transporting chemicals
In Germany, around 145 million tons of chemicals are transported annually. 64 percent of these is transported by truck, rail, ship or air. Experienced companies specializing in chemicals are reliable partners in the flow of goods. They bring your products to their destination professionally and safely – regardless of whether your customers are located in Germany or Europe.
